On My Lunch Break Wednesday May 11.2010

On my hike today I almost stepped on top of these poor deer. I was jumping across a creek and lending all my attention to nit falling in as I moved from stone to stone and the moment I made foot fall on the opposite bank a gang of deer sprang to life. I was startled, fascinated, regretful, and frigtened all at once. I felt bad for disturbing them, they'd obviously been resting. It was also neat to be so near so many of them (the photo doesn't really show all 5 or 6 of them). I also remembered that deer sometimes attack when threatened, so I backed around and made it dry-ly bck to the bank I'd just come from. That was a fun way to spend my lunch.
I also discovered today that my 5 MP Kodak Playsport camera turns photography into impressionist oil paintings when it is pushed too hard. The zoom is all digital, and it's a pocket came ram, so when I zoomed in on the deer and on this bird, the result was not clarity. I like it though. Another fortunate accident. I'm glad I found it and I'll be remembering this effect for the future.
The green thing growing out of the sink was just a cool plant I found out hiking. I thought it was interesting enough that I had to bring it back. It looks like a leaf, but it is it's own entire plant. I think my co-worker Daniela put it behind her desk in a vase with some other flowers, so it's term in the sink was short lived (just long enough for me to get changed and knock the mud out of my boots.
